DEGREE GENERAL COURSES
As per notification of Calcutta University (No CSR/19/98),
the existing two year Pass Degree course is replaced by three year General
Degree Course from the 1998-99 academic session.
The Admission to this 3 year General Degree
Course (B A/B Sc/B Corn) will be according to the guidelines given by
the University.
GUIDELINES — GENERAL & HONOURS COURSES
FROM 1998 – 99 (ACADEMIC SESSION)

The existing three-year degree course (Honours) be
continued. |

| 2. |
The existing two-year degree course (Pass)
be replaced by three-year degree course (General) from the academic
session 1998-99. |
|
| 3. |
Examination for the new three-year degree
course (General) be conducted in two parts : Part I and Part II.
Part I examination be held ordinarily at the end of the 2nd year
and Part II Examination be held at the end of the 3rd year of
study. |

| 4. |
Part I Examination will not be considered
as a qualifying examination for attending Part II classes; however,
a candidate shall have to qualify at the Part 1 Examination to
appear at the Part II Examination. |
|
| 5. |
The existing system of awarding Pass Degree
to those Students of Honours courses of study at the end of Part
I Examination, who do not intend to continue with the course at
Part II, be discontinued. |
|
| 6. |
Language Study in English and one
major Indian Language, each of 50 marks, be introduced as a compulsory
subject in Part I course for both General and Honours streams
of students. |
|
| 7. |
Various aspects on environmental studies be included in
Part II as one Paper carrying 50 marks. |
|
| 8. |
For B A/B Sc/B Corn General courses, there
will be three elective subjects, each subject consisting of three
papers and each paper carrying 100 marks at the Part I level. |

For the B A/B Sc/B Com General course at
Part II level, there will be three papers, one each for the three
elective subjects offered at Part I level. Each paper shall carry
100 marks. |

above in aggregate will be placed in the First Division and Students
obtaining 40% marks or above will be placed in the Second Division. |

English and one
major Indian language offered in Part - I be treated as the language
Group and minimum qualifying marks of 10 (ten) each in English
and one major Indian Language be introduced. |

Admission commences immediately after the publication
of the results of the relevant examination of the West Bengal Higher
Secondary Council. All applications for admission are to be
made in the Prescribed Forms available either from
the College Office or may be downloaded from this website***.
The Admission Forms, duly completed, should be submitted
to the College Office with the following documents :
1. Mark Sheet of the Last Examination (One Xerox Copy)
2. Admit Card of Secondary Examination (One Xerox Copy)
3. One recent stamp size photograph
4. One Xerox Copy of SC/ST Certificate (for SC/ST Students) from appropriate
authorities.
5. A letter from the legal guardian appointing a local guardian when
the student does not live with the legal guardian.
Incomplete application forms not complying
with the instructions are liable to be rejected.
After all the applications have been received
(within the specified dates) the College will publish
its merit list of eligible candidates who may then be entitled
to admission in different courses. Original documents must be
shown at the time of admission. All such admission will be treated as
provisional, pending approval of the University.
The following category of students shall not
be admitted to any course under this University :
